COMPUTER KEYBOARDS

    Computer keyboards :
There are many aspects to the architecture of a computer besides its instruction set. As an example of a user- interface element that varies from one computer to another , here is a laptop-esque keyboard in what I consider to be a very nice, if old style , colour scheme.
  
   The various keys are colored as follows :

• Keys generating printible ASCII Characters: gray with white printing.  
• Keys generating ASCII control characters:green with white printing.
• Shift keys :  Cream with black printing.
• The cursor keys : yellow with black printing.
• Function keys : brown with white printing.
• The break key : Red with white printing.
• Special keys ,peculier video terminals : black with white printing.

 

In computing a KEYBOARD is a type writer style keyboard,which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys , to act as mechanical levels or electronic switches. A keyboard typically has characters engraved or printed on the keys and each press of a key typically corresponds to a single written symbol.
          In normal usuage, the keyboard is used to type text and numbers.into a word processor,text editoror other program. In a modern computer , the inter pretation of key press is generally left to the software.
         A computer keyboard disinguisheseach phycical key from every other and reports all key presses to the controling software. Key boards are also used for computer gaming , either with regular key boards or buy using keyboards with special gaming features, which can expidite frequently used key stroke combinations .
       A Key board is also used to give commands to the operating system of a computer such as windows ctrl Alt Delete. combination which brings up a task window or shuts down the machine .
